18 June 2025 | Surabaya, Indonesia

AGE NEWS – On Tuesday, May 6th 2025, the American Corner held the third session of Guide to U.S. The previous two sessions had been successfully conducted at two different high schools in Surabaya. This session was held specially at the American Corner Surabaya, in order to provide a more immersive and exciting environment for participants. In collaboration with EducationUSA, Guide to U.S was brought up by Miss Ambarizky Trinugraheni, known as Miss Ambar as the main speaker of this session. Miss Ambar is a dedicated Education USA advisor with boundless experience in educational advising about studying in the U.S. Moreover, this session also invited Sidarta Prassetyo as the guest speaker. He was a Fulbright alumnus who earned his Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), from San Jose State University, California. His passion and experience related with academic exchange and English education may be valuable to be shared through this session.
This event was organized with the purpose to bring guidance and information on the step-by-step process of applying for the LDPP and Fulbright scholarship. American Corner Surabaya believes that the United States is one of the best places–filled with comprehensive opportunities to pursue higher education. Otherwise, data said that there is a 1.4% decrease in the number of foreigners that continue their study in the U.S. Based on reports, this decline is caused by the inequality of information disseminated about the potential scholarships program. Guide to the US was aimed to bring extensive understanding about student exchange and scholarships programs provided by both the United States and Indonesia Government, as well as motivate students to pursue their higher education in the US.
Attended by 10 participants, this event successfully provided beneficial knowledge into the scholarships application process. Both speakers were accomplished to bring out in-depth insights about study in the U.S through multiple scholarships and exchange programs. By the end of this program, participants are expected to be able to obtain a chance to pursue wider opportunities by studying in the U.S. Overall, the session served as a meaningful platform to inspire and aspire students with the confidence and resources to take their next steps toward studying in the United States.
