Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB)

Universitas Airlangga is located in Indonesia, precisely in the city of Surabaya. Currently, Universitas Airlangga is in the position of 345 best universities in the world. Universitas Airlangga is also known for the motto ‘Excellence with Morality’ which demands that the civitas akademika to alumni of Universitas Airlangga remain educated but without forgetting morals.

Universitas Airlangga and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia is offering Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) scholarship to potential students from the developing countries to get their Degree (Bachelor, and Master) in a wide range of field of study. KNB scholarships have been sought since 2018 for 1290 recipients from 94 countries. Kemitraan Negara Berkembang scholarship supports Indonesian universities in their internationalization.

The number of international students is indicative of the global visibility of higher education institutions. This program is open to undergraduate students and graduate students enrolled as full-time students at our partner institutions. During the program, students will have opportunities to know more about the culture of the country of Indonesia and also become a quality resource.

Program Duration

  1. Application Submission: 22 January – 23 February 2024
  2. Administration Selection: 26 February – 22 March 2024
  3. Academic Selection, Interview, and Psychology Test: 25 march – 17 May 2024
  4. Announcement: 10 June 2024
  5. Arrival to Indonesia: August 2024
  6. BIPA Program: September 2024

Indonesia language Course and Master Preparatory Program : Maximum 12 months
Bachelor Program : 8 semester (48 months)
Master Program : 4 semester (24 months)
Doctorate Program : 6 Semesters (36 months)

    Bachelor Degree

    1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 21 years old.
    2. Hold a High School degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Bachelor degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Bachelor Degree scholarship.
    3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 477, TOEFL IBT of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510   (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
    4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
    5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
    6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
    7. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Highschool Degree in English or Bahasa.
    8. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.
    9. Complete the online application form in https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id

    Master Degree

    1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
    2. Hold a Bachelor degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master Degree scholarship.
    3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 575 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
    4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
    5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
    6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
    7. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Bachelor Degree in English or Bahasa.
    8. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.
    9. Complete the online application form in https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id

    Doctoral Degree

    1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
    2. Hold a Master degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Doctorate degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Doctorate Degree scholarship.
    3. Obtain a recommendation letter in English or Bahasa from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partners of the KNB Scholarship.
    4. Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interest in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chose research topic and their plan for the academic future (dissertation proposal) in English or Bahasa.
    5. Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 640   (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript), do not require to submit the English proficiency document, by attaching official proof from their home university.
    6. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
    7. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
    8. Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
    9. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Master Degree in English or Bahasa.
    10. Prove of citizenship by submit Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years again.

    Application Procedures

    1. Download the KNB Scholarship Offering Letter from the KNB Scholarship website: https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id/
    2. Submit the Offering Letter, Official Passport, English Proficiency Test, (Applicant from non-English-Speaking Countries), Recommendation Letter from Indonesian Embassy, Recommendation from Employer/Immediate Supervisor, Academic Recommendation Letter from Previous Schools, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts from Previous Degree, Recommendation Letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the Universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship (for Doctoral applicant only), Statement of purpose of their studies in Indonesia (for Doctoral applicant only) in website KNB Scholarship;
    3. Complete the online application process.
    4. Selection process.
    5. The Selection Results will be broadcasted online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.
