AMERTA is an international semester exchange program hosted by Universitas Airlangga to offer international students overseas take an opportunity to partake in studying for one semester in Universitas Airlangga. This program is available on-site for international students who are interested in a number of uniquely Indonesian perspective subjects in social and cultural aspects, economics, natural sciences and health/life sciences.
Inaugurated in 2014, it was successfully conducted for its first batch. All courses are fully delivered in English, and students are given some benefits such as Indonesian language learning, cultural trip, international events, and online learning delivered by overseas academics throughout the program.
AMERTA focuses on the current issues happening in Indonesia―a developing country―amidst the dynamic nature of globalisation and see them through the perspective of natural, health and social sciences. Natural and health sciences provide a wide array of knowledge about Indonesian biodiversity, the dynamic of tropical medicine development and community empowerment in health sector, especially in Indonesia as a developing country; whereas social sciences offer the dynamics of Indonesian urban culture, creative economy and society as the impact of globalisation.

This year, we have enhanced the AMERTA program to better address the needs of international students. AMERTA now encompasses three distinct schemes: AMERTA Regular, AMERTA Internship, and AMERTA Research.

Schedule and Registration
- Semester Dates: 12 Agustus 2024 – 10 January 2025
- Nomination deadline: 6 May 2024
- Application deadline: 13 May 2024
- Announcement: 15 May 2024
- Visa process: 1 June – 1 July 2024
- Undergraduate students:
- Have completed at least two semesters in home university.
- Non – Indonesian nationality
- GPA 3.00/4.00
- The TOEFL® Test, min. 500 (paper-based), 70 (iBT); Academic IELTS Test, overall score: 5 or above*
*If you are studying at the school, college, institution or a university with English as medium of instruction, please submit Statement Letter of English as Medium of Instruction issued by home university.
*Not applicable for student from English Speaking countries.
- A copy of Passport (colored front page)/ Official ID/ Student Card *Physical mobility applicant must submit copy of passport
- Most recent passport size photo (red background)
- Official academic transcript in English (issued by the applicant’s home institution)/ degree certificate
- One (1) Professional Letter of Recommendation signed by the referee (Preferably from a Professor, Invalid if recommendations are made by family members or friends)
