The Europian Union Center UNAIR Drives Cross-Cultural Dialogue Through Europe on Screen 2026

The European Union Center (EUC) Universitas Airlangga, as part of the Europe on Screen Festival 2026, successfully held a series of film screenings from June 8-10 2026, at Tarumanegara Hall, ASEEC Tower, Campus B Universitas Airlangga. The program provided participants with an opportunity to explore European cultures, perspectives, and social issues through the medium of cinema while fostering intercultural understanding and critical reflection.
Throughout the three-day program, participants enjoyed screenings of three European films: Hello Betty, Humans of Europe, and Our Girl. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from students, alumni, and staff members of Universitas Airlangga, creating a diverse audience with a shared interest in European cinema and cross-cultural learning. Each film presented distinctive stories and perspectives, offering audiences a glimpse into various aspects of life, identity, and human experiences across Europe. Through these screenings, participants were encouraged to engage with diverse narratives and gain a deeper appreciation of the cultural richness and social realities found within European societies.

One of the highlights of the program was the reflection session held at the conclusion of the event. Participants were invited to share their impressions and key takeaways from the three films. Many highlighted the quality of the film selections and appreciated the opportunity to engage with European cinema in an academic environment. Several participants noted that the films broadened their perspectives, introduced them to different cultural contexts, and encouraged them to view familiar issues through new lenses. As a token of appreciation, participants who actively shared their thoughts received exclusive merchandise from EUC.
The Europe on Screen screenings at Universitas Airlangga demonstrated how film can serve as a powerful medium for cultural exchange, education, and meaningful dialogue. By bringing together members of the Universitas Airlangga community from different backgrounds, the program successfully created a space for learning that extended beyond the classroom and encouraged greater global awareness among participants.
We highly encourage all UNAIR students to participate in future EUC programs and activities. Don’t miss the opportunity to broaden your horizons, engage with international perspectives, and become part of a globally connected academic community.
