Strategic Meeting with University of Toronto

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga and the University of Toronto, which is ranked 25th by QS WUR 2024, recently held a strategic meeting in the Banten Room of ASEEC Tower on Monday, June 10th, 2024, in the morning. This discussion, which included Prof. Joshua Barker (Dean, School of Graduate Studies), Prof. Greg Evans (Director, Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education and Practice (ISTEP), and Ms. Alicja Sobecka (Regional Lead for Southeast Asia), focused on potential future collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and the University of Toronto. The University of Toronto is concentrating on internationalization in Southeast Asia, aiming to expand partnerships and establish primary research universities. It excels in the fields of engineering, medical, and public health disciplines.

Their participation in this year’s IISMA paves the way for collaboration between UNAIR and the University of Toronto. Then we seek to collaborate through research and guest lectures. Additional plans may involve joint publication and campus visits. Prof. Iman Harymawan, Ph.D. (Director of Airlangga Global Engagement), confirmed that UNAIR will facilitate a sharing session for IISMA and other mobility programs. In addition, Mirza Ardella Saputra, S.Si., M.Sc., PhD (ambassador of the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline) indicated an interest in having tailor-made programs and guest academic lectures from The University of Toronto.

Our next step will be to establish a framework for guest/research lecture activities and to prepare a proposal for the University of Toronto’s joint projects in Southeast Asia. We hope that this collaborative plan proceeds well and has a mutually beneficial impact on both parties.
